Privacy policy
Draft of October 23, 2026
Our promise
No ads. No data selling. Just your family, organized.
We don't show ads, and we never sell your information or share it with advertisers or data brokers. We only use what you put in DwellDo to run DwellDo for your household.
What we store, and why
- Your account: your name and email address, so you can sign in and your family can see who added what.
- Your birth date: checked once when you sign up, to make sure you're at least 13, and then thrown away. We only keep the fact that you passed the check.
- Your household: its name, who's in it and each person's role (admin, member or helper), so the right people see the right lists.
- Lists and items: what you add, due dates, priorities, and who an item is for. Lists you mark private are only visible to you, not even to household admins.
- Purchase history: when items are checked off, so DwellDo can suggest what's running low. Only household admins can see it, and private lists are never included.
- AI usage counts: how many times your household used Quick add and Snap, and how large each request was. We use these counts for daily limits and to understand our costs. They never include what you typed or photographed.
We don't use advertising trackers or analytics in the app, and this website doesn't set cookies.
Photos are never stored
When you use Snap (a photo of a list, flyer or receipt) or Quick add (typed or spoken text), it's sent securely to our AI provider, Anthropic, only so the items can be read and sorted. The result comes back to your phone, and the photo is not saved on our servers or in our database.
Anthropic processes this under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its AI models. Our own server logs record only IDs, counts and error types, never your words, names or photos.
How long we keep things
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Checked-off items | Deleted automatically 15, 30 or 90 days after they're checked off, depending on your household's plan. They're hidden from the list sooner, as set for each list. |
| Purchase history | Deleted automatically after 24 months. |
| Invite codes | Expire after 7 days, or sooner if an admin revokes them. |
| Wrong join-code attempts | Kept for 1 day, to stop people guessing codes. |
| Daily AI counters | Deleted after 90 days. |
| AI usage records | Counts and totals only (no content), kept to understand costs. |
| Everything else | Until you delete it, leave the household, or delete your account. |
| Backups | Deleted data can remain in encrypted backups for up to 7 days before they roll over. |
Who can see your information
- Your household: members see shared lists. Helpers only see the lists shared with them and the items assigned to them. Private lists are only visible to their owner.
- Our service providers, only to run DwellDo:
- Supabase stores our database and runs our servers, in the United States.
- Anthropic reads Snap photos and Quick add text, as described above.
- Hostinger hosts this website, stores beta sign-ups and runs our email.
- Apple and Google distribute the app.
- The law: we'll share information only if we're legally required to, and we'll tell you when we're allowed to.
When you share a list or add items to your calendar, that happens on your phone, with the app or person you choose.
How to delete everything
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Household → Privacy & your data → Delete my account. This removes your sign-in, your profile and your private lists. Items you added to shared lists stay with your household.
- Delete your household: admins can go to Household → Privacy & your data → Delete my household and all its data, and type the household name to confirm. This permanently deletes every list, item, person, purchase record and usage record for that household, for everyone.
- Leave a household: if you're the last person to leave, the household and everything in it are deleted.
- Need help? Email hello@dwelldo.app and we'll delete your data for you.
Beta sign-ups on this website
If you join the beta, we store your email address, the date, and, if you choose, whether you use iPhone or Android. We don't keep your IP address. We use them only to invite you to the beta and tell you about DwellDo's launch. To be removed, reply to any of our emails or write to hello@dwelldo.app.
Security
Everything is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database rules make sure each household can only reach its own data. Secret keys stay on our servers and never in the app. Sign-in, join codes and AI features are rate-limited to block abuse.
Children
You must be at least 13 to create a DwellDo account. Families can add younger children as household people (just a name) without giving them an account.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Questions? Email hello@dwelldo.app.
